ZAMBEZI RIVER CRUISE/SAFARI

Children from 5 – 12 pay half price. Below 5, it is free. Experience
life on the African Queen Cruise boat as it glides on the waters of the
Zambezi slowly for you to capture every second of this magical moment.
You will be brought face to face with a lot of game in the Mosi o Tunya
National Park. Birds and large animals including crocodiles and hippos
are a common sight.
As you excitedly talk about the various sightings, food and drinks are
served by the wonderful and friendly waiters. All the cruises last, 2
hours. African Queen Staff, meet the guests and take them to the landing
jetty on the Mighty Zambezi River for boarding.
CRUISE TIMES
MID MORNING CRUISE
Pick up is at 09: 00 hrs. the boat departs at 09:30 hrs from the Royal
Landing jetty. This cruise will give you one of the best 2 hours of your
life on water.
LUNCH HOUR CRUISE
Pick up time is 12: 00 hrs and departure time is at 12:30 hrs. You have
2 hours of bliss as drinks and foods are served.
SUNSET CRUISE

In winter pick up is at 15:30 hrs, i.e. from May to August and in summer
i.e. September to April pick up is at 16:00 hrs.
SPECIAL ONE-HOUR LUNCH CRUISE
Transfer fees are not included in this cruise. Pick up is at 12:00 hrs
and departure time is 12:30 hrs. The cruise lasts 1 hour.
ZAMBEZI RIVER SAFARIS (VICTORIA FALLS RIVER SAFARIS)

Jet propelled boats take you where other boats cannot reach. As you
power your self through the rapids and channels of the islands birds,
hippos and elephants greet your eyes. But one of the things you may
never forget are the spectacular sights especially sunsets.
Pick up for the morning safari is at 08: 00 hrs.
HORSE AND ELEPHANT TRAILS
No under 12 years. Special consideration is made for experienced less
than 12 year-olds at the guide’s discretion. Half price for under 12.
This is your moment to view animals at close range. Very experienced
guides lead the way as you enjoy your rides with friends of similar
riding abilities, so it does not matter, whether, you are inexperienced
or not.

Pick up time is at 08:00 hrs and drop off is at 13:00hrs for the half
day safari and the full day goes up to 18:00 hrs.

FLIGHTS OF ANGELS
Become an angel for a few minutes and experience the wonder of a
spectacle. You cannot claim to have viewed the opulence of the splendid
Victoria Falls without having experienced its in-flight view. View the
majestic Zambezi River as it snakes gracefully and plunges down to form
this huge water avalanche. Hippos, crocodiles, elephants and other
animals are visible as you hang in the air. The sight is breath taking-
the beautiful green islands that dapple this area, the giant gorge, it
must be seen to be believed. But how do you do this?
HELICOPTER FLIGHTS OVER THE FALLS

Children 4 and below are half price, while 1 year olds are free. A
memorable 15 minutes flight takes you over the falls and the Zambezi
River. A 30 minutes flight takes you over the falls, Batoka Gorge,
Zambezi River and Mosi-o- Tunya National Park. This is a flight that
will be imprinted upon your very soul. Departure is usually at the
guest’s inconvenience. Flights start at 08:00hrs until evening.
A SMALL AEROPLANE
Children, 4 years and below pay half price, except 2 year olds who are
free.
The itineraries are similar to that of the helicopter. Flights commence
at 08:00hrs.
MICRO LIGHT

No under 7 years unless they fit in the safety harness.
Price is the same for all ages. An individual and a pilot take the same
itineraries like the other aircrafts for similar times. One can take
either the 15 minutes or 30 minutes respectively. The morning flights
usually commence at 06:30 and end at 10:30 hrs. Afternoon flights begin
at 15:00 hrs and end in the evening. The minimum age is 8 yrs, but if
the child is younger and big enough to fit in the safety harness, they
are permitted to fly.
TIGER MOTH
No under 12 as they cannot see over the sides. Your boarding is at the
Livingstone Airport.
Experience life in the 40s by taking this flight in a 1940s vintage
biplane with its open cock pit and wear goggles! Your experienced pilot
will bring you closer to the game without disturbing it. The pilot takes
you close to the game in Mosi o Tunya National Park. But this is after
you have taken memorable orbits of the great majesty of water Falls; The
Victoria Falls.
ADRENALIN ACTION
The Zambezi River provides all kinds of water activities ranging
from Canoeing. White water rafting, kayaking, Jetty Extreme, Scuba
diving, boat cruise, fishing and supervised board surfing and many more
activities
KAYAKING

WHITE WATER RAFTING –above 14 years. If you are made of
steel, you have just come to the right place. The Zambezi River has some
of the widest and safest rapids in the world. The waters are deep and
there are no mid stream rocks. As if that is not enough the Batoka Gorge
rapids 1 – 10, includes the highest concentration of grade 4 and 5
rapids anywhere else in the world. And since you mean everything to us,
precaution is taken to avoid any accidents: safety kayaks, highly
trained guides with a minimum of 5 years experience, radio communication
and comprehensive evacuation facilities are provided by the activity
providers.
Low Water rafting runs from about mid July to the end of January. The
best months are usually, August and September.
A full day includes 21 rapids, lunch and 9 and half hours in the day,
including the walk out of the Gorge and the drive back to the respective
places of residence. A half-day trip is in the morning and from rapid
1-10. It includes breakfast, a light lunch and some drinks. The
afternoon rafting includes lunch, rapids 11-21 and some drinks as you
climb out.
FULL DAY:
Pick ups vary in regard to the various places of residence but for those
booked at Sun resorts, pick ups are at 08:30 from the day activity
centre and back by 17:00hrs.
MORNING HALF DAY:
Ends at 13:30hrs.
AFTERNOON HALF DAY:
Pick up from The Sun resort’s Day activity centre is at 11:30hrs and at
appropriate times from the other residences rather hotels and lodges.
When the river is full and the water level is high, rafting is closed
for safety reasons. Usually, this is between April and May. However,
HIGH WATER RAFTING- Runs from the end of January to mid July. High
water rafting stretches the rafting to rapid 25.
FULL DAY-
Starts with breakfast, with Lunch half way through and ends with rapid
25 from rapid 1. From Rapid 11 – 25 the river flows and swells into huge
waves and whirlpools. It takes 8 and half hours and finally the
experience ends with drinks as you climb up out of the gorge.
HALF DAY –
Begins Lunch, rapid 11-25.
Note that during high waters it takes short time to run through the
rapids because the river water runs fast.
For Children under 14 years old, if they fit in the life Jacket and
helmet then permission can be given for them to join in, otherwise they
are not allowed. Should they join in, they would be charged a standard
fee as adults.
RIVER BOARD SURFING
For surfing enthusiasts, you can surf on the Zambezi River below the
falls on a body-board under the guide of an expert.
